Following an earthquake with a maximum seismic intensity of 5- or higher, the system uses estimated seismic intensity distribution data distributed from the Japan Meteorological Agency to calculate and display the shaking at each location's corresponding 1km mesh. The aggregated results are presented in a graph. You can also view and download a list of estimated seismic intensity for each location. While TV news reports maximum seismic intensity by municipality, our 1km mesh data provides a more accurate on-site assessment of the actual shaking.
Rather than our company's locations, I want to know the affected population in the region
Weathernews for business predicts various meteorological elements per 1km mesh. By combining population data, it's possible to estimate damage scenarios such as how many people in a prefecture are entering a typhoon’s strong wind zone and how this changes over time. This also provides valuable information for disaster response personnel deployment planning.
How to Use
From 5 days before a typhoon
1. Check 'strong wind and gale risk' along with typhoon information
2. Issue wind countermeasures instructions to target locations
3. Share possibility of business closure with stakeholders and business partner
4. Convene a response meeting
Within 72 hours
1. Check 'heavy rain risk' and prioritize countermeasures during meetings.
2. Issue flood countermeasures and hazard map confirmation instructions to target locations
3. Make decisions regarding location closures and employee commuting.
On the Day of Closest Approach
1. Assess the situation using various information sources, including typhoon information, heavy rain risk countermeasures, river water level information, photo & video reports
2. Collect damage reports from locations and confirm employee safety
3. Determine timing for reopening closed locations
